In bottle. His plots in Les Chaumes and Chambres have been assembled in 2024 and again in 2025 because of the small crops, and the blend works well he thinks. Chaumes has 60 year old vigorous vines, Chambres is pinot fin, 15-year-old. A deepish crimson ruby colour. The fruit is altogether fresher than the Bourgogne. A fine even crunch to the finish, the pinot fin takes over at the back, to make a really pretty red Chassagne. Drink from 2027-2030. Tasted Oct 2025.

The 2024 Chassagne-Montrachet Village is a blend of three lieux-dits with 30% new oak. It has a brick nose with green apples and crushed limestone, quite reserved yet well defined. The palate is fresh on the entry with bright acidity, touches of orange pith and tangerine that lead to a nicely textured and quite persistent finish. This is a well crafted Chassagne-Village that should age well in bottle.
“I like this kind of vintage. I like a challenge,” winemaker Thibaut Coffinet explained at his winery in the heart of Chassagne-Montrachet. “I prefer vintages with a lot of wet weather over ones like 2025, where there is more dryness and hot temperatures. It was a complicated season. One of the biggest challenges was controlling the grass, which I just cut instead of ploughing. That made it easier to spray, which I did between 16 and 19 times. A slow maturation is better for balance in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, so I picked in mid-September rather than August. There was beautiful weather. We finished with around 40 hl/ha for the Chardonnay and 20 hl/ha for the Pinot Noir. That’s okay for me. In fact, there was less in 2025 for the whites, which make up 80% of my production. I plan to bottle the Premier Crus in November.”
