The Azelia 2020 Barolo Cerretta is the most complete wine from vintner Luigi Scavino in this vintage. The fruit feels richer and more saturated, and you get greater textural heft on the palate (compared to some of the other wines in this portfolio that taste thin in comparison). I also enjoyed that touch of cherry sweetness that succeeds at fleshing out a longer finish. This is a limited release of 3,000 bottles from 2.5 hectares of vines planted on limestone clay soils. The team at Azelia is working to build a new winery that is slated to be completed in 2025. With this latest group of releases, we have the special 2014 Barolo Riserva Bricco Voghera.
