Founded in 1869 in the heart of Alto Adige, Wilhelm Walch is one of the region’s benchmark producers, known for combining tradition with precision winemaking. The Prendo Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) 2023 is made from estate and contracted vineyards across Alto Adige’s cool, alpine slopes. Grapes are hand-harvested, gently destemmed, and fermented at controlled temperatures to preserve freshness. Aging takes place partly in stainless steel and partly in large oak casks, allowing the wine to retain its bright fruit character while gaining subtle roundness and complexity.

Terroir
Alto Adige’s terroir is particularly well-suited to Pinot Noir. The vineyards are planted on slopes between 300–600 meters above sea level, where warm days and crisp, cool nights ensure excellent ripening while preserving acidity. Limestone and porphyry soils contribute minerality and finesse, while the alpine breezes keep the grapes healthy and aromatic. This unique environment allows Pinot Nero to express both elegance and depth, with a distinctly Italian accent.

Tasting Notes
The 2023 Prendo Pinot Nero shows a brilliant ruby-red color and a fragrant nose of wild berries, red cherry, and raspberry, lifted by floral notes of rose and violet. On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied with fresh red fruit flavors, hints of spice, and a touch of earthiness.
