Planted in the 1920s, this 102-year-old vineyard is the domaine’s oldest and the second vineyard photo above with the fall colors and cliffs in the background. At 350 meters altitude on limestone slopes. 15% new barrels for 18 months.
*****5 Star Jasper Morris Selection: 90-93 pts
Picked earlier but riper, old vines, 42 hl/ha from 85 year old vines. A lovely pale lemon colour. The nose shows a little bit of the wood and also the open style of unsulphured wine, but barely oxidative. Stunning wine! Enough acidity to back up the generous fruit, with a fabulous long finish. Drink from 2025-2028. Tasted Oct 2023.
Our Tasting Note: The most conventional of the 3 wines we tasted. A medium lemon yellow gold. The nose is richer, juicy and fresh fuji apple and summer peach, toasty notes, vanilla, toast, the barrel use is apparent but well integrated. The palate is mouthwatering with med/slightly med+ acidity, med/med+ body, finishes medium+ with toasty hazelnuts and ginger. This has a really full mid palate.
