Domaine Anne Gros Coteaux Bourguignons Vieilles Vignes 2023
Anne Gros brings her precision and elegance to this approachable yet characterful red from the Coteaux Bourguignons appellation. Sourced from old vines, the wine shows both the charm of Burgundy’s everyday drinking style and the finesse of a skilled winemaker.
Technical Notes:
-
Grape Varieties: Pinot Noir & Gamay (old vines)
-
Appellation: Coteaux Bourguignons AOC
-
Vinification: Traditional fermentation with native yeasts; élevage in a combination of stainless steel and seasoned French oak to highlight fruit purity and supple texture.
-
Aging: Bottled young for freshness, but with depth from the age of the vines.
Terroir:
The fruit is drawn from old-vine parcels on clay-limestone soils in the Hautes-Côtes. These sites bring together Gamay’s juicy red fruit with Pinot Noir’s elegance, while the limestone bedrock adds freshness and lift. The old vines, with their deep roots, contribute concentration and balance to the final wine.
Tasting Notes:
The 2023 Vieilles Vignes shows a bright ruby hue with expressive aromas of wild raspberry, red currant, violet, and a hint of black pepper. On the palate, it is lively and silky, with flavors of crunchy cherry, cranberry, and subtle earth. The texture is supple yet energetic, with polished tannins and a clean, refreshing finish. Charming and versatile, this is a red that pairs beautifully with roast chicken, charcuterie, or a simple weeknight pasta.
