Barolo Monvigliero 2018 95VM/95WA
$84.98 US Low
Because of the fame of the wines produced and its history, Monvigliero can be considered the real “grand cru” of Verduno. The position occupied is to the north-east of the village. The hill is exposed to the south, with the vineyards taking the shape of a natural amphitheater, at an altitude of about 300 meters. The soil in this area is rather loose, consisting of fine white marl. Alessandria's parcel is 1.4ha, exposures are South to Southwest, with a high average vine age of 45 years.

"The 2018 Barolo Monvigliero shows a beautiful signature of pressed violets, rose garden, white stone, crushed peppercorn and grilled rosemary. The wine is smooth and soft in texture, yet it feels stitched up and firm at the back thanks to the support it gets from those balanced tannins. This wine should hold 20 years or more. Drink: 2024-2040. (Aug 2022)" Monica Lerner
