Terroir
Camparo’s Langhe Rosso comes from organically farmed vineyards in the Langhe hills, within sight of Barolo’s famed crus. The vines grow at altitudes of 300–450 meters, where cool night air preserves acidity and bright aromatics, while the sun-rich days ensure full ripening. The soils are classic Langhe marl—a mix of clay, limestone, and sand—giving the wine its balance of fruit, structure, and mineral precision. Certified organic since 2000, the estate’s practices foster biodiversity and low yields, focusing on purity of fruit and authentic terroir expression.
Vinification
The 2021 Langhe Rosso is a blend of Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto, harvested by hand and vinified separately to preserve each variety’s character. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with gentle pump-overs to extract color and tannin without harshness. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages partly in stainless steel and partly in neutral oak barrels for 8–10 months, allowing the components to harmonize before blending and bottling. The result is a vibrant, approachable wine with a touch of Langhe elegance.
Tasting Notes
Bright ruby-red in color, the 2021 vintage offers an inviting nose of fresh red cherry, raspberry, and plum, accented by violet, sweet spice, and a hint of licorice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and juicy, with Barbera’s freshness, Dolcetto’s easy charm, and Nebbiolo’s fine-grained tannic frame. Flavors of ripe berries and redcurrant are supported by subtle mineral notes and a whisper of almond. The finish is fresh, clean, and lightly savory, making it as versatile as it is delicious.
Serving & Pairing
Serve at 15–17 °C. This Langhe Rosso pairs beautifully with everyday Italian fare—pizza margherita, tajarin with ragù, grilled sausages, or mushroom risotto. It’s crafted for enjoyment in its youth, but will hold well for 3–5 years.
