Wine Critic Reviews
Wine Enthusiast (95): This Paraje Altamira wine showcases the region's character in an elegant style. The nose begins with floral aromas, cherries and sweet spices. Silky tannins support intense notes of black and red fruit, complemented by delicate floral notes. It's vibrant and has a long finish with a dash of chocolate and rosemary.
Falstaff (95): Dark ruby, purple reflections, brightening at the rim. Fine oak savouriness, dark berry fruit, hints of plums and blueberries, a touch of cinnamon, sweet tobacco notes. Good complexity, ripe cherries, round, velvety tannins, fine acidity, mineral on the finish, shows length and certain ageing potential, still needs time.
Revista Adega (95): Wine made exclusively from Malbec grapes from the Nicasia vineyard (in Altamira), aged between 16 and 21 months in French oak barrels. From a cooler year like 2021, it stands out for the lively profile of its perfectly ripe red and black fruits, supported by vigorous acidity and nervous, firm tannins. Structured and tense, it has a deep finish, with touches of blackberries, blueberries, violets, herbs, spices, and graphite. It's great now and has everything to get even better over the next 20 years. Alcohol 13.7%.
Patricio Tapia - Descorchados (97): The 2021 season was cool in the Uco Valley and produced wines with a lot of fruit expression and energy. This is one of the best examples. The flavors of red fruit and herbs join floral notes, giving a sensation of tremendous freshness on the nose. The palate has an intense, sharp network of tannins, the fruity flavors are energetic, the sensation of freshness is maintained, and the floral finish invites you to continue drinking. An excellent vintage of this classic.
