(2018 base vintage; tasted in 2022 in France; 40% chardonnay, 30% pinot noir from the Montagne de Reims and Grande Vallée de la Marne; 30% meunier from the Vallée de la Marne and southern slopes of Épernay; less than 8% pinot noir red wine predominantly from Mareuil-sur-Ay; 40% reserves; vinified in stainless-steel tanks; aged 36 months of lees; 9g/L dosage; DIAM). Billecart is a shining beacon for rosé of elegance and character, and its lofty reputation is secure when it unleashes wines like this 2018 base. A pretty pale salmon hue heralds a rosé that captures the mood of Mareuil-sur-Ay pinot noir and meunier; perfectly elegant, while delivering no shrotage of character, presence and undeviating persistence. Red fruits are the unabashed theme here, celebrating the expression of the ripe and pure 2018 season in fresh cherries, raspberries, wild strawberries—you name it! There's a compelling touch of cracked pink pepper, and a lift of rose petal, too. Succulent and caressing yet tangy and lively, a wonderful beam of pink grapefruit acidity is underlined by confident, prominent, salty chalk minerality of magnificent form. Line and length to boot confirm another benchmark Billecart Rosé...and I am completely besotted! (Edition VII; 2024)"

"Very pretty, one of the best Champagne Rosé NV cuvees made by Billecart-Salom of late: and that’s saying something, given this bubbly is pretty well universally recognized as the benchmark for non-vintage pink bubblies (the only other competitor being Laurent-Perrier’s, but that is a completely different wine, made in a completely different way). Bright salmon-pink with a golden-orange tinge. Raspberry, red currant and some herbs on the subtle but deep, perfumed nose. Then crunchy and clean red fruit and almondy flavours enlivened by zesty acidity that really lifts and extends the flavours on the long, savoury finish. This is a blend of 45% Chardonnay, 31% Pinot Meunier and 24% Pinot Noir with 56% reserve wine going back to 2018. Made by assemblage, with about 7% red wine added (at Billecart-Salmon they make their own red wine: only Pinot Noir is used from six villages located in the Montagne de Reims: the vines range from 50 to 80 years in age and only the best grapes are used -they undergo three sortings). This bubbly is vinified in stainless steel only, and François Billecart told me their goal with it is to extract as much fruit as possible. My bottle was disgorged in the second quarter of 2024. Drinking window: 2025-2035. (9/5/25)"

Seven percent red wine added to the blend to make the NV Champagne Brut Rosé, which is based on the 2020 harvest and is 45% Chardonnay, 25% Meunier, and the rest Pinot Noir, with about 45% reserve wine. A classic pink salmon hue, the nose is classic and pretty with notes of fresh peaches, raspberries, roses, and chalky earth. Medium-bodied and rounded, it’s approachable and fresh in style, with lovely purity and a pretty feel throughout. It’s delicious now but has the ability to age with ease over the coming 10 years. Disgorged in the first quarter of 2023, 4.7 grams per liter dosage (although interestingly, they are now including the total grams per liter, in this case 5.3 grams per liter in the final wine) Drink: 2024-2035.
