Region: Loire Valley (Touraine)
The Rousseau family has passed down a great winemaking tradition in the Touraine region from father to son for four generations beginning with Alphonse Rousseau at the end of the 19th century. Jacques Rousseau followed his father in 1930 and was succeeded by his son Jacques in 1960. Today, brothers Bernard and Michel keep the tradition alive with a serious eye on elevating the quality of wines produced at the estate with every vintage.
Established in the suburb of Tours, in Esvres, the Touraine Noble Joué’s soil in mainly clay-siliceous and sand-siliceous, with flint stone on the surface. This area is located on a plateau above the Indre river. The grapes undergo direct pressing, to create the pale ‘vin gris’ a style. No added sulfur Temperature controlled fermentation occurs over the course of 3 weeks. The wine is aged in steel tanks for 4 months before being bottled in the Spring.
