Half of the wine leaves the winery as soon as it's bottled. 2024 is quite similar to 2023, perhaps with easier fermentations—more nitrogen available for the wines, more nutrients—all indigenous, and the wine is more relaxed, perhaps a little rounder. Maybe the word for the 2024 whites is \"pretty.\" It's always aged in very well-seasoned, 228- and 500-liter barrels, so there is a spicy and smoky hint, with a core of dry flowers and herbs, a little Burgundian if you like. It's very tasty. 66,000 bottles produced. The majority of the wines are from 2024, a vintage that was a less warm year, with lots of vegetation and big yields—there was enough rain, and the plants behaved like they had irrigation—but the warm summer made the plants suffer because of the big canopy and yield, and the plants struggled to ripen all the fruit and keep the leaves green. It was a very rainy harvest, which made it long and apparently better, because the alcohol didn't go up and the wines kept their freshness, which was good initially for the Douro wines but bad for Port. But the rain reactivated the plants, and they finally ripened the grapes for the Port too. The 2024 unfortified wines have low alcohol and seem to be putting on weight. The reds are very floral, perhaps not as vibrant as the 2023s, and the whites are similar to the 2023s, perhaps a little rounder. Half of the reds are from 2023, a vintage that is fresher than 2022, similar to 2021. Both 2023 and 2024 are very approachable vintages. In 2025, it rained a lot during the year, and it was challenging in the vineyard. The yields were low and the grapes had a lot of concentration. At Quinta de Nápoles, this meant an increase of 50% as compared to the previous year. The 2021 harvest began on 11 August, with ideal indicators: musts with high acidity levels, low alcohol as well as beautifully firm skin on the berries made for well-balanced red and white wines. Some instability in the weather during the month of September led to our cellars receiving an exceptionally large number of bunches, with various levels of ripeness according to their geographical origins. The grapes stem from old vines growing on the right bank of the Douro River, at an altitude of 400 to 600 meters above sea level. These vines predominantly grow in mica-schist soils, which, in combination with the complexity of the various grape varieties typical of the Douro region, create delicate wines full of freshness and minerality. After being meticulously sorted on our sorting table, the fruit was gently pressed and left to settle for about 24 hours.
