Sweet red cherry, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco, mint and dried herbs open first. It offers gorgeous mid-palate pliancy and fine balance, both especially of note given the challenges of the growing season. You can chill this or serve it at regular temperature in situations that are as varied from charcuterie, cheeses, and pizza on up to more substantial pork or roast chicken. Think lighter nebbiolo to pinot noir like situations and this fits perfectly there. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMatteo Correggia was one of the leaders of the young generation that brought so much attention to Piedmont in the late 1980s. Sadly, a tractor accident in 2001 cut his life tragically short, leaving behind a wife and two young children. I visited the estate a few times in the years that followed. Correggia’s widow, Ornella, did a tremendous job in keeping the estate running while also advancing approaches to sustainable viticulture and raising her children. Giovanni Correggia was just a young boy at the time. Today, he is a young man who has confidently taken charge of his family’s domaine. The wines continue to improve, always heading in a direction of greater focus and energy.
