La Solana can be freely translated as "the sun drenched" and is always the first plot of Listán Negro to be picked, but I didn't know what to expect of the 2019 La Solana, because the 2018 was completely different from previous vintages, much more elegant and balanced. This fermented with 50% full clusters and indigenous yeasts in concrete vats with a 24-day maceration, and it matured in a second-use 4,500-liter oak foudre and used 500-liter barriques for 13 months. 8,000 bottles were produced. It was bottled in December 2020. - Luis Gutierrez
Winery
In a 1.5 hectares vineyard facing east and located at an altitude between 350 and 450 meters above sea level, this Listán negro vineyard, whose ages vary from eighty to one hundred and fifty years old, grown in the unique system of cordón trenzado. The soil is composed of a clay layer over volcanic rock, a terroir that results in a wine that subtly combines fruitiness and minerality.
