Terroir: From the south-facing Drachenloch (Dragon hole) vineyards - this exceptional geographical site is considered one of the warmest in Alsace. The vineyard is composed of limestone soil, positioned in the middle of a rocky outcrop that protects it from the North and East winds.
Age of the vines: 40 years old
Vinification: The grapes were handpicked and whole-bunch pressed very slowly and gently in pneumatic presses over 5-8 hours // natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts // aged in stainless steel or big oak barrel, depending on the vintage.

The emblematic name of this place called “Drachenloch” means “the Dragons’s cave” in French. It is linked to a legend from Turckheim where a dragon, after fighting the sun, found refuge in this cave. His blood would have fertilized the local soil.
This wine is from a single parcel in Turkheim. The site has limestone soil, and the wine has a vibrant mineral character, and yellow apple aromas.
