Domaine de Fontsainte Rose Gris de Gris 2024
Domaine de Fontsainte Rose Gris de Gris 2024
The 2024 vintage of Rose Gris de Gris continues the estate’s tradition of crafting one of the Languedoc’s most refined and consistently outstanding rosés. Sourced from old vines in the heart of Corbières, this “Gris de Gris” (a pale rosé made primarily from Grenache Gris) stands out for its delicacy, balance, and terroir expression.
Appearance:
Pale salmon-pink with silvery reflections, this wine gleams with clarity and freshness in the glass.
Nose:
Aromatic and inviting, the nose opens with delicate notes of crushed strawberry, white cherry, and blood orange, backed by rose petal, grapefruit zest, and a faint herbal lift—evocative of garrigue and Mediterranean breezes. A light mineral edge hints at wet stone and sea spray.
Palate:
On the palate, the wine is dry, sleek, and beautifully textured. There’s a lovely interplay of ripe citrus (pink grapefruit, Meyer lemon) with red berry fruit (raspberry, watermelon rind) and a savory mineral core. Subtle spice from Mourvèdre and Carignan adds complexity without weight. The acidity is vibrant and cleansing, giving the wine an energetic feel while maintaining elegance and poise.
Finish:
The finish is long, bright, and mouthwatering, with lingering notes of citrus peel, crushed rock, and a touch of salinity—perfectly echoing the wine’s coastal origins.
Pairing Suggestions:
Exceptionally food-friendly, this rosé pairs effortlessly with Mediterranean fare: think grilled shrimp with lemon and herbs, niçoise salad, bouillabaisse, or goat cheese with fresh herbs. It’s also an ideal aperitif on a warm afternoon.
