Produttori del Barbaresco 2019

The 2019 Barbaresco is a gorgeous wine to drink now and over the next 15-20 years, give or take. Sweet, floral and open, the 2019 offers lovely brightness and energy to match its mid-weight, nervy feel. Sweet dried cherry, mint, crushed flowers and savory notes all grace this soft, understated Barbaresco from the Produttori.

 “We will bottle the Riservas in 2019, but in smaller quantities,” Aldo Vacca told me during my tasting at Produttori del Barbaresco. “Quality was excellent, but results varied considerably within each vineyard. Only the best parcels did well. Compare that to 2016, when everything was so outstanding, we almost did not make Langhe Nebbiolo. That’s the key difference between 2019 and 2016."

Soil: limestone and clay, rich in calcium with sandy veins
Vinification: stainless steel tanks, 30 days on the skin at 28°c (80°f). Pumping over 2-3 times a day
Aging: 24 months in large oak casks
