The Conde Valdemar Rioja Reserva 2016 is a testament to the rich winemaking tradition of the Rioja region. The vineyard's dedication to quality is evident in every bottle, offering a harmonious blend of fruit and oak. With a deep ruby color, this wine entices with notes of ripe berries, spice, and a hint of vanilla, providing a well-rounded and memorable tasting experience.

Composition: Tempranillo, Graciano, and Mazuelo. Grape varietals are carefully selected to enhance the wine's complexity and depth. The vines thrive in the calcareous clay and limestone soils of the region.
Winemaking: Traditional fermentation processes are used, maintaining the integrity of the grape flavors.
Aging: This wine is aged in American and French oak barrels for 18 months, followed by additional bottle aging to achieve perfect balance.

Wine Critic Reviews

Wine Review Online (92): Regulations for the Reserva category of Rioja require at least 3 years of aging, one of which must be in barrel, before release. Many, like this beauty, are aged longer before they hit retailers’ shelves. Hint of brown mahogany in the color announces it maturity and the non-fruit panoply of flavors (coffee and even leather-like notes) on the palate confirms it. Enough fine and suave tannins remain to lend support. More savory than fruity, this Reserva shows the near magical transformation that occurs with proper aging. A bonus is the bargain price for a fully mature wine that will be marvelous with a hearty stew this winter. (Michael Apstein)

Wine Enthusiast (94): This deep-hued wine has a bouquet of black currant, milk chocolate and caramel. Velvety tannins and vibrant acidity lay the groundwork for black cherry, Mission fig, butterscotch, clove and black olive tapenade flavors. Dark berries, chocolate and caramel linger on the palate.

Wine Review Online (91): Every time I open a bottle of traditional Rioja Reserva, I relish the lovely barrel aromas blossoming from the glass along with the fruit. The wood scents echo on the palate, leading to a finish that is primarily marked by dark blackberry fruit. A lovely, substantial wine.

Owen Bargreen (92): The 2017 ‘Reserva’ by Bodegas Valdemar shows up inky in the glass, offering an excellent combination of depth and poise. Black plum, soy sauce and wild blackberry tones mingle well with orange rind and sandalwood on the palate. Smooth and soft, enjoy now and over the next decade.
