Wow, if you love acidity, grapefruit, meyer lemons, saline and chalk, this wine is for you!  Intense in its energy which is electric, hyper-fresh and crackling with acidity, this is one unique champagne.  I really liked it and if you are a champagne uber-geek this is also for you to know what this grape is like vinified by itself to allow itself to show what it can do, which was a lot in my glass!

The NV Extra Brut Petit Meslier (2020 base) opens with an intriguing mix of citrus confit, marzipan and passion fruit, followed by a kick of bright acids that pull it all together nicely. Petit Meslier is the last variety to ripen in Champagne. It’s gaining in prominence given how well its attributes are suited to a world in which climate change is an increasing challenge. Here, Petit Meslier offers a compelling interplay of tropical fruit and energy. This release is a blend of 60% 2020 and 40% 2019. Dosage is 2 grams per liter. Disgorged: November 2023. - By Antonio Galloni on March 2024

Petit Meslier is a cross between Gouais Blanc and Savagnin, this once-forgotten variety holds a special place in the Laherte family’s heart. After years of observing Petit Meslier’s evolution in the co-planted parcel of Les 7—a vineyard maintained to preserve Champagne’s genetic diversity—the family was captivated by its character and remarkable ability to retain acidity even in warmer conditions. This inaugural release captures that discovery, delivering vibrant aromatics and striking freshness.
