Birichino Vin Gris Rose 2023 is a delightful expression of the unique terroir and winemaking philosophy of Birichino. This rosé offers a vibrant taste profile, characterized by notes of fresh berries and a crisp, refreshing finish. The vineyard's commitment to sustainable practices and minimal intervention allows the true character of the grapes to shine through, resulting in a wine that is both distinctive and memorable.
Composition: Predominantly Grenache with smaller amounts of Cinsault and Mourvèdre. The vines are grown in sandy loam soils, imparting a delicate minerality to the wine.
Winemaking:
Cold fermentation in stainless steel to preserve the fruit's natural aromatics and freshness.
Aging:
Brief maturation in neutral barrels to enhance complexity without overshadowing the primary fruit flavors.
Wine Enthusiast (93): A soft, pale shade of pink in the glass, this mostly Central Coast-grown rosé blend of 72% Grenache, 11% Carignane, 7% Cinsault, 7% Mourvèdre and 3% Rolle offers wet stone, smashed plum and subtle herb aromas on the nose. The palate's texture is stony and chalky, giving an edge to the plush rosewater and melon flavors.
