I like to call this the orange wine for people that do not usually like orange wines or prefer a style more like white wines, especially if they do not like the the cloudy and more tannic style.  This is crystal clear and has no haze.  Gorgeous with some grilled or fried seafood.

Area of production: Fontane, Vittoria, South-East of Sicily.
Grapes variety: Grecanico 100%.
Agriculture: Organic.
Altitude: 230 Meters a.s.l.
Soil: red soil, medium consistency; formed of subalpine sands of Pliocene origin, of limestone - siliceous nature, interwoven with compact layers of fresh clay and calcareous tufa.
Average age of vines in production: 12 years.
Fermentation: spontaneous in terracotta amphorae, on the skins with indigenous yeasts.
Aging: amphora and bottle

91 Vinous (the 2019, not the unrated 2021 here)

The 2019 Bianco Pithos, a varietal Grecanico, is a pale golden color in the glass, presenting a nose of pungent spring flowers, musky notes of apricot, pear and a hint of animal musk. This is soft and pliant in feel, with ripe orchard fruits offset by zesty yellow citrus, as a coating of liquid inner florals saturates deeply. Residual acids maintain balance and a juicy persona, as gobs of minerals and gingery spice linger long. The Bianco Pithos spends a month on the skins post-fermentation, followed by another seven months refining in amphora. While this has the sometimes quirky and nervous personality of an orange wine, it’s also very easy to like.
