Wine Review Online (89): I must admit that this is my first exposure to a blend of Saperavi and Merlot, so my frame of reference is fairly limited. And my guess is that the producers are still trying to decide what the best approach is to making this marriage work. Although the wine is enjoyable, especially if you don’t study it too hard, the oak treatment at present is too much for the fruit to totally handle, meaning that the wine is big and aggressive and lean – a red-meat game wine in the Bordeaux style.
