Drinking Window 2029 - 2049
The 2019 Barolo Riserva Cerretta Vigna Bricco exudes depth and intensity from the very first taste. Black cherry, plum, graphite, spice, lavender and mocha build as the Cerretta shows off its personality. Readers will have to be patient, as this potent, strapping Serralunga Barolo is going to need time. - By Antonio Galloni on November 2022
After all these years, Elio Altare has become a classic. Daughter Silvia Altare makes the wines pretty much the same way her father always did. I find that level of conviction refreshing, as it is rare in a world where so many producers chase the latest fashion. The Altare Barolos see relatively short fermentations and are aged in French oak, a tool the Altares have mastered for Nebbiolo with uncanny skill. The 2019s are rich, deep and highly expressive of place. They are pretty impressive wines for my palate. Silvia Altare told me she considers 2019 warmer than 2018.

Drinking Window 2028 - 2050
I got a sneak peek at the Elio Altare 2019 Barolo Riserva Cerretta Vigna Bricco, although it is too early to review the wine at this time. It won't hit the market until the fall of 2024. From what we can gather now, we are in for a special prize. This vintage is dark and generously concentrated with black fruit flavors and firm tannins for structural support. The 2019 shows power and a fully loaded style.
