94 pts Vinous Media
The (2020) Extra Brut Rosé de Saignée Les Beaudiers is 100% Meunier from vines planted in 1965, 1958 and 1953. A wild, crazy wine, the Beaudiers is intensely aromatic and full of Meunier character. Dried cherry, mint, tobacco and herbs all take shape. Strong gamy notes, a touch of reduction and bold textures abound. This really needs time in the glass to open fully. The Beaudiers is not a Champagne for every palate. It requires considerable time and attention. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. Disgorged: November 2023. - By Antonio Galloni on March 2024
The 2020 Les Beaudiers cuvée from Laherte Frères champagne is a vibrant tribute to the Chavot terroir and Pinot Meunier. Made from old vines, this Rosé de Saignée cuvée embodies the two facets of Pinot Meunier: complexity and freshness.
The production of Les Beaudiers 2020 Laherte Frères champagne
This cuvée is made exclusively from Pinot Meunier , from the Les Beaudiers plot in Chavot. The vines, planted in 1953, 1958 and 1965, thrive on clay-loam soils enriched with small pebbles, schist and flint, with a chalky subsoil from the Sparnacian period. These characteristics give the cuvée a remarkable minerality and freshness.
This is a saignée rosé. After meticulous sorting of the grapes harvested at optimal ripeness, the berries are destemmed. Then begins a 12 to 14-hour maceration. Alcoholic fermentation takes place slowly and spontaneously in barrels, without malolactic fermentation. Aging on fine lees for 6 months, with regular stirring, guarantees a rich and complex texture. The dosage is Extra Brut to bring a beautiful balance to the rich fruit notes brought by the saignée technique.
The 2020 vintage
The 2020 Champagne year offered favorable weather conditions, with a balanced mix of sunshine and rainfall. This vintage is distinguished by exceptional grape ripeness and invigorating acidity, perfect for enhancing the aromas of Pinot Meunier from the Chavot terroir.
