The 2019 Toscana Rosso Mimma is a selection of the estate's best Sangiovese. Soaring aromatics and bright acids lend palpable energy to the red Sangiovese fruit. Cedar, tobacco, incense and leather develop in the glass, adding further shades of nuance. Silky, aromatically beguiling and light on its feet, Mimma shows a distinct and unique face of the estate. - By Antonio Galloni on June 2022
Proprietor Paolo Cianferoni makes some of the most compelling wines in all of Chianti Classico from his small hillside vineyard in Radda. The cramped cellar really belongs to a previous era, a time when the emphasis was on wine rather than appearances. Speaking of the wines, the 2019s capture all the best this tricky vintage has to offer. I was blown away.
Readers who appreciate old-school Chianti Classicos will want to check out Caparsa. It’s a truly special place.

Winery: Mimma is the nickname of Gianna, Paolo Cianferoni's lifelong companion, the artisan winemaker, the mother of his children and the backbone of the Caparsa microcosm, just outside Radda in Chianti. But there is more: Mimma IS all the women of Caparsa. In fact, it is dedicated to them. And perhaps it is precisely because of this clear declination of gender enclosed in the intimacy of a tribute that the Sangiovese here, the result of a rabid selection of grapes, takes a particularly sentimental turn. Mimma 2019 is made from a very limited selection so their are a very limited number of bottles.

The label depicts an intertwining of rosehips, from roots to sky, contrasting thorny appearances with the heady scents of life.
