My Tasting Note: A med+ ruby red core with lighter ruby edges. A medium+ nose of ripe and fresh strawberry, raspberry and cherry, there are only light notes of the pyrazines one expects from cabernet franc. The palate is medium bodied, with medium acidity, and medium+ flavor intensity of the red, juicy fruits that really make this wine so charming and fun to drink. Texturally the tannin are medium and polished. An elegant and finessed med+ finish, this reminds me of a scaled down and more primary version of the Clos Durandiere below ($69/73).
Grape: Cabernet Franc
Terroir: Limestone calcarious chalky soils near the Thouret river help to moderate the cooler months of the early growing season and warmer ones of summer.
Vinification: Destemmed and pressed. The juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks to maintain a focus on the freshness of the bright red fruit character. Aged in tank and then bottled.
