“Vilmart & Cie. is not only one of the greatest grower-estates in Champagne, but one of the finest champagne producers of any type in the region.” - Peter Liem
This is a stunning and very rare wine direct from the caves of Laurent Champs and Vilmart. The classic Vilmart style prizes elegance above all else. In tasting, the Vilmart Champagnes are characterized by very fine mousse, discreet use of oak and exceptional balance. Add in 12+ years of cellar age here and you get further depth and complexity of biscuit and brioche allied with chalky minerality, citrus and white orchard fruits...outstanding and we are $20 less than any other listing for ANY iteration of this wine (T15 is floating around out there too).

"A sculpted Champagne, rich but still elegant, with well-honed acidity and a panoply of flavors set on the raw silklike mousse. Delivers grilled macadamia nut and biscuit, white cherry and nectarine fruit, crystallized honey, lime blossom, star anise and smoke accents. Long, salty finish. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Disgorged January 2020. Drink now through 2033. 700 cases imported."

The NV Brut Grand Cellier Oenotheque T13 is based on 2012, with reserve wines from 2011 and 2010. It's a fine choice for drinking now and over the next decade or so. Airy and gracious, the T13 is quite fresh, especially for a wine of its age. Strong floral and citrus notes give this tons of charm. Hints of baked apple tart and pastry add character. This is impeccably done. Readers should note that the 'T' in the wine's name refers to the calendar year of bottling (tirage), so the base vintage is one year prior. Dosage is 7 grams per liter. Disgorged: January 2, 2020.

Consistency is the name of the game at Vilmart. Year in and year out, these are some of the most polished, sophisticated wines in Champagne. Laurent Champs and his son, Thomas, craft Champagnes of delicacy and finesse. All the Champagnes are done in oak, but wood is always expertly used.
