Giulia Negri 'Pian Delle Mole' Langhe Nebbiolo 2021

Pian Delle Mole (Langhe Nebbiolo) 2021
Declassified Barolo from her Serradenari cru at the top of La Morra – part of which is from blocks that go into her other Barolo - and the other portion from vines that are of the same age as her best blocks but face north. North facing these days is a good thing, especially in warmer years. The wine is beautiful and has a very clear elegance and finesse just like a village Vosne-Romanee or a Chambolle from Burgundy. It has the same character that her Barolo wines do but in a lighter and less tannic frame (read: drink now with a LOT of pleasure). If the top traditional Barolo names like Burlotto, Mascarello, and Rinaldi make tier 1 Langhe Nebbiolo, I'd make a case that this wine is right on their heels at the least and making a case to join them! It is also HALF the price or better! Lastly, it's also a nice early look at 2021 - the 3rd in a row of highly touted Barolo vintages, especially of the classical kind!
