Our Take: Bright and energetic, with notes of wild raspberry, red plum, violets, and crushed herbs. Fresh acidity and fine tannins frame a vibrant palate, while the granitic soils lend a distinctive mineral lift and savory finish.

This cuvée is sourced from young-vine Caiño, Brancellao, Sousón, and Ferrol, planted by Luis using massal selections in the steep, south-facing granitic vineyards surrounding his hometown of Arnoia in Ribeiro. The grapes are fully destemmed and fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel before aging for 12 months in a combination of French oak barrels and steel tanks. Released earlier than Luis’s more structured reds, it offers an immediate expression of the region’s native varieties.

Vineyard
The grapes for this wine are from younger vines in plots around Arnoia, Luis’s hometown. The parcels are steep, mostly south-facing, and on granitic soils.
Winemaking
The grapes from each of the many plots are harvested by hand, destemmed, and macerated on the skins for 15 days. Fermented with native yeasts in temperature controlled stainless steel vats, then raised in used French oak barrels and stainless steel vat for roughly 12 months. Bottled without fining or filtering and with only a small addition of SO2.
